RiimNet-Africa is an independent regional Research, Policy and Advocacy think-tank which brings together a network of individuals and institutions concerned with promoting and advancing a people-centered and driven but sustainable regional integration process in Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA). We monitor regional Integration and the various decisions commitments and policies made in its name with a view to ensuring that the voice of the citizens of the region-the real stakeholders- impacted by integration is heard. In helping to deepen integration, we not only celebrate successes, identify challenges but also seek to communicate this as effectively as possible to ensure that citizens of the region are involved in the day-to-day decisions made at the highest level with regard to regional integration.
In this regard, we work to identify, create and capitalize on opportunities to influence both policy and the policy makers in the best interest of the citizens of the region by ensuring that policies continue to be anchored in the citizens’ realities, needs and aspirations.
Our aim is to ensure that the regional integration process is not only inclusive but that it puts the citizens-the real stakeholders- of the region at its center; After all, integration is and should be about the citizens; as captured in our slogan-Integration of the people, for the people by the people.
RiimNet-Africa works with and supports the RECs, governments and other non-state actors including private sector, civil society and development partners across the ESA region to deepen integration and exploit its potential to enhance development and better livelihoods in the overall context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Our programmes and initiatives are organized around key Sectoral Indicators facilitating an Indicator-based integration process that helps all stakeholders to track and participate in a regional progress that has clear and visible results. .
